So sorry I was only on for a few minutes. I'm on vacation in Costa Rica and the wi-fi is spotty. It was fun to come back and watch the recording. I loved seeing "Snow Falling on Cedars" on your shelf! I loved that book.
This was great, Shaina. Sorry I couldn't make logging on live (I don't seem to ever make any live things).
RE: Holly. I enjoyed it. I respected the fact it wasn't King at his best or that it wasn't heavy on horror, but I still enjoyed it. I get the impression he's not done with Holly yet, either.
I'm currently working my way through You Like It Darker and really enjoying it. First story was great, and now I'm onto Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream, which is seeming really good.
Yes Nathan! I think the heavy Covid references pulled me out of the fiction. I love Holly as a character. Just not his writing here. You Like It Darker was amazing. I’ve noticed that I’m starting to really fall for short stories as opposed to novels. Used to be totally opposite. I hope you’re well!
Yeah, I noticed Covid gets a fair bit of a nod in You Like It Darker, too. I wonder if that's him wanting to make sure he's giving it a timestamp of when it was published and making sure some of Covid is represented in literature, or if it's him sick of anti-vax and anti-mask views at the time and wanted to make sure he was putting that in there. *Shrugs*
Yes, all is good here thanks. Just struggling to maintain any semblance of routine of writing at the moment.
Hope you're doing well. Great to see and hear you, even if it wasn't live for me.
Found myself nodding along several times. "Eyes of the Dragon" was a clear SK low for me and Bad Cree was indeed... fine. Nice collection, thanks for taking the time!
"i dont have a lot of his physical books" shows 20 stephen king books hahaha
🤣
What a great idea Shaina!
