Shaina, I rejoice that in most places in this country we are still allowed to rant! I also rejoice that there are the ranters like you and others that I am meeting thru these pages that you share. And I appreciate the two personal views that you gave us in this post... First, the barbarians are at the gates and also among us. All is lost unless we man the ramparts! And second, is the magic of writing perhaps our secret weapon? Thanks

"Right, left, religious, atheist, the whole world seems bent on forcing everyone to agree with them."

Ok, you included atheists in your persuasive reflections as wanting to force people to agree with them.  I suppose that might be a perception bcz of the nature of a nontheist POV.  If so I accept it.  But at the risk of alienating perceptions in the main, atheists just admit they have no reason to believe gods exist. That's pretty much it.

However, let me tweak that a bit bcz those here are examining life in ways many do not.  You are readers, writers, and thinkers:  As an atheist, I’m not convinced any god exists, but to keep your slings and arrows at bay let me venture if any do, they’ve made no credible attempts to demand anything from me, so any existential beliefs on my part are inconsequential.
