In today’s episode, the lines between fact and fiction get blurry as we visit the Stanley Hotel, one of America’s most haunted places. This hotbed for paranormal activity sits in the scenic Rocky Mountain town of Estes Park, and has hosted guests from the Rockefellers, to our beloved Stephen and Tabitha King. The Shining was inspired after King visited with his wife in 1974 and had a nightmare where a firehose in the hallway was chasing his three year old son.
Rumor has it that the hotel was haunted long before King’s stay, but skeptics point to the reality that the popularity and notoriety of the Stanley as a paranormal hotspot only occurred after The Shining was written. Do we have a case of false advertising? Or is the hotel, now at the center of attention and intention from believers and skeptics all around the world, a collector a souls?
