I love the idea that the hotel may have been haunted before King's story, but since his story brought the hotel additional acclaim that it's attracting more and more ghosts. That's an interesting take.
Ha, loved the story and history, thanks! I live in Colorado and have been to the Stanley a number of times and frequented Estes Park as a kid. I think I've stayed in the hotel at 3 different occasions. Primarily, the Stanley is a really nice, beautiful place to stay, ghosts or not. Estes Park is a fun mountain town for kids and adults and most of my memories involve salt water taffy. You are likely to see many elk around the hotel. But, every time that I've stayed there, I can say that I've felt a "presence" when sleeping and have been a little scared or just fascinated. It could totally be psychosomatic, but maybe not. Actually, me and the wife need a little getaway. Going to look at rooms....oh shit....I've just accepted cookies at the Stanley Hotel website....NOW MY COMPUTER IS POSSESSED WITH EVIL...☠️☠️☠️⚰️⚰️🩸🩸🩸🛗👧👧
Your computer was probably possessed by evil long before these most recent cookies. All you have managed to do is to compound the evil. Soon, it'll reach critical mass. Who knows what'll happen then?
Are you saying that my computer has been collecting cookies and drawing in the cookie ghosts this entire time? That's it. Setting it on fire. Luckily, it is my work computer.
A very fascinating episode and personal anecdote in a well produced and entertaining podcast! As I have declared previously, I am a sceptic. And the facts that you presented regarding when reports of events started to become public lends credence to likely natural explanations or to individuals wanting to garner some attention or notoriety or to prank guests or staff. Now one personal observation while listening. Your narration style, especially as we approached the later part, reminded me of the intro narrations that Rod Sterling did for his shows in the 60s and 70s.
I LOVE Rod Serling, so thank you for that comparison. I am also a sceptic (until I turn the light off). I try to keep these posts to pure fun, but as you can see I can't help but bring in that skeptical point of view. Thanks for listening Frank!
omg! We used to vacation with our kids in Estes Park and would drive by that creepy hotel. I always knew it was from The Shining and was too creeped out to actually go inside. You all are much braver than me actually staying at it.
Amaaaazing listen, Shaina. Fantastic production values. Loved your own story (true?? Fictional??? Either way, very well presented). I've just paused halfway to write this. Onwards I continue ...

Take all precautions! Get some sage! Arm yourself!
I've ritually burned everything in my house with circuits as a precaution. Except my phone, gotta have my phone. Should be OK.

It's great that King brought a lot of attention to this, but it's also great to think it had weirdness beforehand 👻
I know! It’s a weird old place to be sure.

How cool! If you’re ever in the neighborhood you should book a ghost story tour. Very fun!

Ok, finished. Superb. Loved it. More of these kind of podcast posts please 😁😁
Thank you Nathan!!! I really enjoyed making it. Im trying to learn how to add atmospheric noises. Can’t wait to do more!
By the way, can't recall if you saw my note the other day, but have you seen the recent horror film "Talk to Me"? Vv good. Think you'd enjoy.
And also forgot to say, appreciate the inclusion of the spooky pics in this post!
I saw trailers for it and it looked so scary!
Exactly. You'll love it 😜
I think the subtle atmopshere of the background music was really good here. Added the appropriate sense of disquiet without being distracting 👌
More ghosts, yay! Can't wait to listen to this, Shaina! Thanks for sharing. And happy Macabre Monday to you, again! 👻🕸️✨💀
