This is outstanding. The " drowning on the universe " line is brilliant, and there are plenty more great lines in there too. You took a topic other writers have turned to mush and made it steak.
I loved it. Death and the afterlife are concepts I always enjoy exploring in my own writing, and you really did an amazing job here.
The floaty weightlessness of the soul's something I remember feeling when I was a kid. It always started just as I was going to sleep. Felt like falling sometimes, and floating others.
Wow, I have had dreams where I can levitate and float around the room and even soar at times, so I really felt this story as I read it. Thank you I really enjoyed it. Thanks Winston for sharing.
What a great way to explore the prompt, Shaina. And powerful, too. Great job 👏 Can’t wait to share this!
Have you heard of Maria and the tennis shoe? I was just reading about out of body experiences yesterday and came across it. I think you’d find it interesting.
Coming late to this piece, but still a small offering of appreciation...I loved that you didn't play coy with identifying the spirit as belonging to the corpse, others might have tried to stretch that mystery association. But you caught me unaware till the very last with that startling spiritual apocalypse, even though the seed was there in the title. Bravo!
A stunning achievement!
Wow. Got a Kleenex handy? 🥹. Really, really well told story.
Btw, Happy birthday, Shaina!
You're having quite the life's journey so far!!

You just get better and better.
I really look forward to your writing, Shaina.
You seem to be exploring and perhaps drawing from your own
particular Bildungsroman. This is quite effective.
Ah, you got me!
You have such a gift for choosing just the right words. Great writing.
Great piece Shaina!

Beautifully written!
There's no other way to put it. This story is extraordinary.
What a gorgeous story. I loved it.
A really vivid and beautiful execution of your story. Nicely done!
