This is such a stark and powerful book and I love the way it begins by parodying the old Dick and Jane book series: “See Dick, see Dick run.” The way she uses language is so captivating. It reminds me of Nabokov (another banned author).
The novel “Lolita” is one of the most famous banned books in history. There’s an edition called “The Annotated Lolita” which is excellent. Also Brian Boyd’s two-volume biography of Nabokov is amazing. The second volume deals with his time in the United States and covers the Lolita controversy thoroughly.

The language was incredible. I loved the Dick and Jane parody as well. She is a real master. This book will stay with me for a long time.
I may cover Nabokov in the next few weeks. Do you have any recommendations?
